India and the Achhe Din

For the past few months we have been listening the slogan Achhe Din Aane Wale Hain. And on 16th May 2014 with the biggest win in the largest democracy of the world, we got a feeling that Achhe Din Ab Aa Gaye Hain.

We have already crossed the one month mark of the newly formed Narendra Modi’s government. So, it’s our responsibility now to understand whether the newly formed government has been able to fulfil all of their pre-election promises or the people of India have been fooled again as they were being fooled in the Congress led UPA government for the past 10 years.
The first and most discussed motto of Bhartiya Janta PartyEk Bharat Shashatha Bharat. This has been the main motto of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as well as BJP since their formation and there is no doubt that our Prime Minister is keen to take any action for the fulfilment. We have already seen it’s beginning with the government’s involvement with the Article-370 of Indian constitution about Jammu & Kashmir.

Next of course was Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. I personally did not understand the meaning behind this motto. Was it about taking all the political parties together and growth and development of every region of the nation? If it is so, it appears that this is not being fulfilled. NDA is following the path of UPA. If you want to take all the political parties with you for the growth then why do you need to change the UPA appointed governors of many different states. Yes, they did it in 2004, you may say but if you repeat what they did, then I don’t see any difference between both of you.

The first thing that was mentioned in the BJP election manifesto was the problem of Price Rise. The price rise has crippled household budgets and contributed to the overall inflationary trend under the governance of Congress led UPA. But we don’t see any change in the price rise in the new government either. The prices of every item has been increasing in the same way or in some case even more in the past month. Oil prices may have increased due to problem in Iraq but what about the rapid growth of food and vegetable prices.
The next thing that comes to my mind is Corruption and it always reminds me of Kejriwal Ji. He was very good in the beginning but was overpowered by his big desires. The new government has been setting up different plans to minimise the growth of Black Money. That’s a positive point. Hope this government do not turn out to be another Kejriwal.

The government promised the people that to Strengthen the Framework it will build a strong Centre-State Relationship. I see the situation of Uttar Pradesh the BJP leaders are being murdered, there is much pressure from outside to throw down the SP led State government but in view of building Centre-State relationship the Centre is still calm. This may be the way to adhere to the promises they made to build a strong Centre-State Relationship. But how long will it last. The state must also consider the way of co-operation.
There are many more things that need to be discussed and taken care of and the Prime Minister and his other minister promises to do the same. As one month has passed the speed of growth must multiply itself.
We the people of our country have, elected the new government with much faith and hope and so we hope not to be fooled again. Also we are eagerly waiting to see the Achhe Din.

Indian Political Dilemma

Few days ago I was at a family function and all I could hear in the random conversations were 'Har Har Modi' , 'Abki baar Modi Sarkaar' and all random stuff about Modiji , Rahulji and Kejriwalji. This makes me think that are we done with all other random topics. Yes, It is the season of elections, I know. You do not need to remind me again and again. I agree it's not the fault of the people who are engaged in these talks. Even I engage myself in these but instead its a kind of 'lahar' or we can say 'election ki hawaa' that has been created widely this election season.
Now most important thing whom are we going to vote this season. We have only limited number of choices to elect from. Here I want to quote a dialogue from recently released movie 'Bhootnaath Returns' where the Bhoot says to the people- "Ham aakhir kisko vote karein. Hamare paas choice kya hai. Ab 200 ya 150 murder karne wale ke saamne to 2 murder karne waala shareef hi hua na. To chalo usi ko vote karte hain." (Whom should we vote. We don't have choices. In front of the candidate who has committed 200 or 150 murders, the one who has committed 2 is innocent. So let's vote for him.). Yes this has become the mentality of people now a days.
Coming back to whom are we going to vote. Since long, we have only two choices - the BJP led NDA and the Congress (INC) led UPA.

Yes this time a newly formed party AAP who calls themselves the party of 'aam aadmi' (The Common man) has been the talk of the tongue. It emerged very fast in the Delhi elections and made most of us including me feel that we now have a perfect leader who will drive us to ........???? Where ?? Where does he want our country to reach? What does the party want? What's it's manifesto? Many of you will say - It says it will give us a corruption free India, but how? Once even I felt giving my vote to Aam Aadmi Party. I was confident voting for AAP. But fortunately I have a great politically involved circle of friends and family. I am not going to do so.

Next talking about the UPA, everyone knows about them. They have been Ruling our country for the past 10 years. We know what they did to our country in these unfortunate 10 years. We don't want our next 5 years to replicate past 10 years. So, we are not going to vote for the UPA too.

Now coming to NDA- I have been in a background where we have grown up seeing our elders voting for BJP, we used to listen what leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpeyee Jee have done for the betterment of our country. As kids we appreciated his works. But now as we have the voting rights and we need to be much involved in these stuff I don't think the kind of faith and trust we can have on them too, as it used to be then.
The question that strikes me again and again is- Even now is it the same party with same ethical and moral values as it used be in the past? I don't think so.

This election campaign I have not seen any of their advertisements without the use of random dialogues containing Modi ji's name. This sometimes makes me feel that "Are we voting for a group of people to work together for the development of our country or is it just one person?"
But finally as like others I have no other choice than to agree with Bhootnaath jee "2000 ya 1000 galat kaam karne wale ke saamne 400 galat kaam karne wala to
shareef hi hota hai." (The person with 400 wrong deeds is much innocent in front of person with 1000 or 2000 wrong deeds.) So finally I have decided to vote for the shareef of all according to me and also I request you all to vote for the change atleast vote for the shareef but please vote.
Whosoever wins we only have to hope that he leads our country rather than ruling in the best possible way.

AN OPEN LETTER TO Mr. Arvind Kejriwal

Respected Sir,

With due respect, I am not a great fan of politics but it doesn’t mean I am not at all interested in Indian politics like most of the youth. I love fighting and commenting on these like any other fellow Indian. We had the guts only to comment and blame the Indian Political system. But I must accolade you for your courage to come front and fight against these.

I am pretty sure your path is not going to be facile. Many occlusions are going to follow your path. Your path is that path where - one wrong move of yours will cost you to lose your support base forever.

We have much hopes which are linked with you. You are truly a one man army. I am not pretty sure as of now: Will you be able to bring a drastic change in the Indian political system or not (Whatever reasons might be behind it be but the main reason I feel is the current Political system) but you will always be remembered for the drastic change that you brought in the youth minds. Now a days I see number of youngsters just like us participating to fulfil your dreams, the dreams of the Aam Aadmi – “The Mango Man”.

I have also seen many revolutions against you, many statements against you, trying to prove you and your horde corrupt, wrong and misleader. I and for sure many like us argued with their friends and family in favour of you. We were criticised for the same. I am pretty sure this criticism will surely grow in my case after reading this letter. I may be wrong and they may be right, it is now in your hands. Many compare you with V P Singh, the 7th Prime Minister of India. May be, now it’s all up to you.

This letter may be considered as a letter by an Aam Aadmi to his leader. But to be sure I am much confident with your obstinacy – to lead our country to a corrupt free nation. Hope you never break our confidence.

I assure you, people like me will always remain with you in all the needs and support.

Wishing you all the best for the great future. Hope you continue to serve the nation with the same morality and decorum.

Thanking you

Amartya Raghav

An Aam Aadmi
